The United States is a North American country that is the world’s major economic and military force. Similarly, its cultural imprints are largely guided by popular culture expressed through music, film and television, and are spread all over the world.

During the civil war in the mid-19th century, the country split into almost two, but in the 20th century it regained the foothold that was the victorious aspect of both World Wars.

The United States of America is a constitutional federal republic consisting of 50 states. Measured by gross domestic product, the US economy is the largest in the world and the most technologically powerful. The country’s main exports are computers and electrical machinery, vehicles, chemicals, food, living animals and military equipment. The United States also has the largest coal reserves in the world.

The United States is culturally and racially diverse and has been shaped by a large wave of immigrants from Europe and beyond. American literature, art and music reflect the rich heritage of the county’s inhabitants. America is the birthplace of jazz, and African-American Louis Armstrong is one of America’s most famous and admired musicians. Award-winning Jewish writers Saul Bellow and Philip Roth are one of the most famous literary figures in the United States. The US media industry has viewers around the world with television shows, music videos, and movies distributed around the world.

The country is home to some of the best universities in the world, including Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The United States often plays a leading role in international organizations and is the founding force behind institutions such as the United Nations, NATO, and the World Bank.
